DIY Sparkly Jars!

I have found a few tutorials on making these jars, but I wanted something quick and easy so I just kind of did my own thing!

The are the three main things you will need!

Spray Adhesive: You can find this at any hardware store
Glitter (in any shade that matches your room!)
Jars: I got mine at hobby lobby for very cheap!
I also used sandwich bags and scissors.

So basically you just remove the lid from the jar, and spray the adhesive on the inside.  Be careful not to get it on your hands because this stuff STICKY! Then just sprinkle you glitter all around.  I even put the lid on mine and shook it around a  bit.

Now I knew I was going to use my jars for make up brushes and I didn't want glitter on them every time I pulled one out. So I took sandwich bags and just stuck them down in the jars.  Then I screwed the ring to the lid on and cut off the excess.

I added twine to mine, just because I thought it needed a little something more.  You could use twine or any ribbon to make them more your style!

I hope your project turns out beautiful!

Very Easy DIY Chalkboard!

So a couple weeks ago my sister and I decided to get up at 5:00 am and hit up some yard sales.  She just moved into her first place and was hoping to find some deals!  We did pretty well!  This incredibly ugly picture and frame was $1 and Shelbi of course gave it to me in hopes I would turn it into something cool for her house.  I had a free evening last night and decided to use my chalkboard paint!

I used chalkboard spray paint, a roll of twine, burlap on a roll (from hobby lobby) and my trusty hot glue gun.

Take the glass out of the frame and clean it with windex or another glass cleaner.
Once it dry and clean, start spraying with the paint.  Make sure you apply it evenly.  Mine took about 4 coats. (Mine is actually even that is just the reflection of the trees)

It doesn't take long to dry at all!

I wrapped the ugly brown frame in twine and added the burlap bow.  You could buy bright spray paint and paint the frame also!  I just used what I had around the house!

Then I added words!
*Chalk writing tip: keep blowing off the excess chalk dust and when you are done, take a Q-tip, dip it in water and clean up around your words!

TA DA!
What I love about this project is that it is totally customizable!  You can use frames of any shape or size and paint them any color!

I hope your project turns out beautiful!

Bridal Trivia!

I've been to tons of bridal showers where they play this game, and I really wanted to play it for my best friends bachelorette but I wanted to create something she could also keep!  So here is my version!

Materials needed:  Any type of binder, the one I used was like $3 at WalMart
Page protectors; cost about $2 and are in the scrapbook aisle
Sharpie, markers, or whatever you want to write with
Anything you plan to decorate the book with (I used glitter, pretty paper & stickers)

Here is what it ended up looking like!  You can make yours look however you want!

I asked the groom some questions and wrote down exactly what he said.  Casey had to guess what she thought his answers would be.  If she was wrong she took a shot, and if she was right she gave out a shot to one of us!  It was SO funny!

Here are the questions I used:
  1. When and where was your first kiss?
  2. Where was your first date, and what did you do?
  3. What is Casey's dream job?
  4. What turns Casey off about a man?
  5. What turns you off about a woman?
  6. What do you think Casey's favorite memory of your relationship is?
  7. What is your favorite memory?
  8. What does Casey love most about you?
  9. What do you love most about her?
  10. How many kids do you guys want?
  11. What physical feature do you love most?
  12. What physical feature does she love most?
  13. Who is her celebrity crush?
  14. Who is yours?
  15. Name "your song"
  16. Silk, lace or leather?
  17. House is on fire, what would you save?
  18. What would she save?
Below are some of the photos from the bachelorette party.. We did it ALL.  We took a pole dancing class, hit up some bars on the landing, went to a strip club, went to a night club, then gambled at the casino as the sun was rising.  SO much fun!

Here's another easy gift that the bride can keep, just have all the girls kiss a piece of paper and frame it!

I also made these yummy cupcakes which we shared with numerous people!

Where I Work!

I recently redecorated my home office.  I used to have a HUGE brown corner desk and it was all americana, it was cute...but i found myself not WANTING to be in there.  It was important to me to have a space I could go relax and work and feel happy in.  So I decided on this!

All furniture (desk, chairs, side table, storage bench) is from target.com.
Lamp, tape dispenser, pen holder and hot pink wall art are from hobby lobby.
Curtains are from WalMart.
Camera canvas wraps are from Gordmans.
Candle sticks are from a local store, Miss Kim & Co.
Scatter frames can be found at hobby lobby, but they were pricey so I just spray painted some frames I already had. I also painted the two canvas wraps behind the desk.

If you are thinking about redecorating, just go for it!  Find a color scheme and go from there!

Do it yourself wall art!

My bathroom is completely do it yourself! I am pretty proud of it! I did the whole thing for around $60-$70!  These fun, modern wraps are made out of none other than MOVING BOX LIDS! Enjoy!

You will need:

Fabric. (I got mine from WalMart, they came in a pack and had lots of patterns and color schemes to choose from. I also got a pack of fabric strips that matched.  Located in the sewing aisle.)

Moving box lids. (I would make sure they are pretty wide.  If they are thin they won't stand off the wall properly and will probably look TOO homemade.  I used the lids from the types of boxes you fold and put together yourself because they are very sturdy.  Plus we had just moved and had plenty laying around!)

Hot glue gun.

Needle and Thread.

Iron.

Buttons. (If desired.)

1.  Choose your fabric and wrap the lids.  Wrap them tightly and secure them with hot glue.  I wrapped the edges of mine like a present.
2.  For the flowers, I took a fabric strip and folded it back and forth until the very end (Like you are making a fan).  Then took a needle and just sewed the end up. To make the creases stay take the iron and iron your little piece of folded fabric, let it cool.  Open it all the way until it makes a circle, glue the ends together and glue a button in the middle!
3.  For the ruffles; you basically scrunch and stitch, scrunch and stitch..each ruffle was about two strips of fabric.
4.  Hot glue it all down, and hang up your beautiful work!

Below: The shower curtain was on clearance for cheap, and we just added the flowers. NOTE: The flowers are a tad time consuming!

I hope your project turns out beautiful!!

Do it Yourself Canvas!

There are a few ways to do these, and I've tried just about every way.  This was the fastest, and easiest way I have found!   It's so simple, and saved us a fortune!  As a photographer I am ALL about getting quality prints and ordering canvas, I have a huge wall collage in our living room that cost us around $300-$400! But this way I am still getting good quality prints because I order them through a professional lab! So here is what I came up with!

You will need:

Buy your print the size of the canvas you desire, mine are 12X12.
When I first made mine I only used the spray adhesive from the hardware store, but after a little time passed the corner of one of my photos started to come up a little so I would suggest combining the two.

1.  Using your sponge brush, cover the front of your canvas with the liquid Mod Podge.
2.  Spray the adhesive over the wet Mod Podge. (I would do this outside..the spray adhesive is VERY sticky, and is really hard to get off of EVERYTHING!)
3.  Line up the print and gently lay it down. DON'T PRESS.
4.  This is going to sound weird, but I then put a sock on my hand to smooth the photo onto the canvas.  I did this to make sure my photos didn't get scratched.
5.  Flip the canvas over (on a soft but flat surface-like carpet or an ottoman) and press the backside of the canvas to make sure your photo is applied evenly.
6.  This is optional, but the spray Mod Podge is for the protection of your photos.  Spray it evenly and not too think (you don't want runs).
7.  Let they dry, hang them up and stare in awe of what you just did!

I used one of the canvas squares to spice up the collage.  Grey paint, a big burlap bow, and a hot glue gun!  Easy!  These would have costed us around $200-$250, and my total was only around $50!

I hope your project turns out beautiful!
