life goes on.

I have been pretty quiet since my divorce.  Isn't that such an ugly word?  It's a word I never believed in and certainly not what I pictured in my future.  I am not someone who wants everyone to know the details of my personal life because the people closest to me, and those that truly matter most to me already know the details, but a part of me needs to get this out.  I need it out there, and I need others to know that it gets better.

Never in my life have I felt such immense heartbreak and disappointment.  Never have I felt like such a complete and total failure, like a loser, like everyone is pointing and laughing behind my back.  It is hard to describe the level of despair I felt throughout the month of January.  I didn't eat, I lost a dramatic amount of weight, when I did sleep it was not without the help of pills or just me dozing off in the bathroom floor.  The toilet had become my best friend, where I threw up everything I managed to choke down.  My entire world was flipped upside down, and I honestly thought I was never going to be okay ever again.  In the midst of my nightmare my baby sister and her fiancĂ© had just bought and moved into their first home and invited my parents and I to dinner.  I love them so much, and I was so happy for them, but not a single ounce of me wanted to be there.  I could barely get the energy to put on some clothes, let alone go sit at their home and pretend I wasn't dying inside.  Somehow I did it, and I even managed to eat a few bites of dinner too.

That same week it was time to move out.  Talk about bizarre.  One thing I will remember for the rest of my life is that group of people that dropped everything and came to help me.  As I sat in what used to be my bedroom and sobbed,  they all moved around me just boxing things up and taking them out.  Back to my parents house I went.  You couldn't even walk into their house.  Boxes and random pieces of furniture cluttered the entry way.  It took us two weeks to find everything a place.  My parents called just about every two hours to check on me for that first month.  They sat on each side of me in my lawyers conference room, they gave me the best advice they could offer and were honestly the only things holding me together.

After seeing my lawyer and setting things in motion, I decided it was time I got my 'happy' back.  I just wanted to feel like myself again, but at the same time I felt like I didn't even know who I was anymore.  So like every other girl on the planet who goes through an emotional battle..I visited my hair dresser and told her to get rid of my fake platinum blonde locks and give me back my natural darker ones.  We laughed, ate cheesecake, and made fun of my ex.  (Yes, I am human.)  It was the first time in a long time that I felt at ease.  After that things just started to fall into place for me.  I reconnected with a friend I really hadn't been close to since high school, and grew even closer to my long time best friend.  Together the three of us decided we would make this summer the best yet.  I think it's safe to say we accomplished it.

Somewhere between spur of the moment trips to Panama City Beach, to just normal sleepovers and road rides, I felt new again.  They showed me that life does go on, and if you want to..you can make it the best life ever.  I hope that all my friends know that they honestly healed me.  Love absolutely wrecked and destroyed me, but the love of my friends picked me up and put me back together.  It feels absolutely amazing to be happy and feel like a normal 22 year old girl.  I have my entire life ahead of me, and it looks pretty damn good from where I'm standing.

Below is a song that Katy Perry wrote after her divorce and when I heard it, it absolutely changed me.

{NOTE: This post was in no way about bashing anyone.  I will never wish anything but happiness to my ex.  Eight months ago I would have thought him leaving was the most cowardly thing a person could do, but now I realize he had to have courage to actually walk away.  We both deserved more, and he realized that.  We were just two people who grew apart and are better off without each other.}

DIY Sparkly Jars!

I have found a few tutorials on making these jars, but I wanted something quick and easy so I just kind of did my own thing!

The are the three main things you will need!

Spray Adhesive: You can find this at any hardware store
Glitter (in any shade that matches your room!)
Jars: I got mine at hobby lobby for very cheap!
I also used sandwich bags and scissors.

So basically you just remove the lid from the jar, and spray the adhesive on the inside.  Be careful not to get it on your hands because this stuff STICKY! Then just sprinkle you glitter all around.  I even put the lid on mine and shook it around a  bit.

Now I knew I was going to use my jars for make up brushes and I didn't want glitter on them every time I pulled one out. So I took sandwich bags and just stuck them down in the jars.  Then I screwed the ring to the lid on and cut off the excess.

I added twine to mine, just because I thought it needed a little something more.  You could use twine or any ribbon to make them more your style!

I hope your project turns out beautiful!

Very Easy DIY Chalkboard!

So a couple weeks ago my sister and I decided to get up at 5:00 am and hit up some yard sales.  She just moved into her first place and was hoping to find some deals!  We did pretty well!  This incredibly ugly picture and frame was $1 and Shelbi of course gave it to me in hopes I would turn it into something cool for her house.  I had a free evening last night and decided to use my chalkboard paint!

I used chalkboard spray paint, a roll of twine, burlap on a roll (from hobby lobby) and my trusty hot glue gun.

Take the glass out of the frame and clean it with windex or another glass cleaner.
Once it dry and clean, start spraying with the paint.  Make sure you apply it evenly.  Mine took about 4 coats. (Mine is actually even that is just the reflection of the trees)

It doesn't take long to dry at all!

I wrapped the ugly brown frame in twine and added the burlap bow.  You could buy bright spray paint and paint the frame also!  I just used what I had around the house!

Then I added words!
*Chalk writing tip: keep blowing off the excess chalk dust and when you are done, take a Q-tip, dip it in water and clean up around your words!

TA DA!
What I love about this project is that it is totally customizable!  You can use frames of any shape or size and paint them any color!

I hope your project turns out beautiful!

Bridal Trivia!

I've been to tons of bridal showers where they play this game, and I really wanted to play it for my best friends bachelorette but I wanted to create something she could also keep!  So here is my version!

Materials needed:  Any type of binder, the one I used was like $3 at WalMart
Page protectors; cost about $2 and are in the scrapbook aisle
Sharpie, markers, or whatever you want to write with
Anything you plan to decorate the book with (I used glitter, pretty paper & stickers)

Here is what it ended up looking like!  You can make yours look however you want!

I asked the groom some questions and wrote down exactly what he said.  Casey had to guess what she thought his answers would be.  If she was wrong she took a shot, and if she was right she gave out a shot to one of us!  It was SO funny!

Here are the questions I used:
  1. When and where was your first kiss?
  2. Where was your first date, and what did you do?
  3. What is Casey's dream job?
  4. What turns Casey off about a man?
  5. What turns you off about a woman?
  6. What do you think Casey's favorite memory of your relationship is?
  7. What is your favorite memory?
  8. What does Casey love most about you?
  9. What do you love most about her?
  10. How many kids do you guys want?
  11. What physical feature do you love most?
  12. What physical feature does she love most?
  13. Who is her celebrity crush?
  14. Who is yours?
  15. Name "your song"
  16. Silk, lace or leather?
  17. House is on fire, what would you save?
  18. What would she save?
Below are some of the photos from the bachelorette party.. We did it ALL.  We took a pole dancing class, hit up some bars on the landing, went to a strip club, went to a night club, then gambled at the casino as the sun was rising.  SO much fun!

Here's another easy gift that the bride can keep, just have all the girls kiss a piece of paper and frame it!

I also made these yummy cupcakes which we shared with numerous people!

My bestest friend!

...this is who I married...

So I am beyond proud of my hubby!  He got his certification to be a personal trainer about two or three months ago, and about three weeks ago he got CrossFit certified also!  Our gym The Dungeon just had our grand opening, and Tim really wanted us to have new floor in the Zumba room.  So he told the Zumba instructor if she got new floor he would come to a class, from start to finish.  Well.. she got new floors.  He was a really good sport, and probably danced better than some of the girls in the class!  He's got moves what can I say?!

Click here to watch the video!

Below is us after the class.  Notice how soaking wet he is.  It was harder than he thought!

Here's a photo from our grand opening!  Denny and Emily have become two of our best friends!  It was Emily's class that Tim danced in! :)

Live What You Love

I posted a little bit about this, on my personal Facebook page the other day, but I wanted to explain a little further... I am so lucky to have a job I adore.  There are many people who don't have the money, support or time to pursue what they love as a career, and I just feel like I am so blessed to be able to do this everyday.  If you asked me what I loved most about myself I would say it's my artistic abilities and creativity.  Some photographers really love the "shooting" part and some really love "editing" process, but I can honestly tell you I love BOTH.  I love sweating my butt off in the heat, or freezing it off in the winter as long as I get that "shot" I am looking for.  I love sitting at my computer going through beautiful shots just letting my mind wander with ways I could edit them.  I never want to take what I do for granted.  There may be days my back is aching from hours in front of the computer, and long nights with sore feet from a wedding reception, but I will forever be grateful I am doing what I truly love!

As much as I love my job, sometimes I get to feel bummed or even bored by doing the same old thing...So here are a few photos of me on the other side of the camera.  It was so weird, I'll admit...but I wanted to let loose on the editing process and let my creative juices fly! Mostly I wanted to remind myself of why I fell in love, and I plan on doing more personal images that are just for myself from now on.  So here are the images, and thanks to my cousin Hanna for snapping them for me!  She is only 15 and just got her first DSLR!

...and of course I got some with my child..
